Just a simple cover for the thin edges of the Deuce of Spade.
It is non fixed so you can use it on either end.
I made mine out of a piece of air bag material from a wrecked car,
but I think one of the more durable fabrics used for making a pack would be just fine.
In addition to the intended use, these spades can make good sand anchors…
