Curious if any other DD40 pack users have had issues with the pack slipping. I’ve had problems with it staying on my hips no matter how tight I crank on the hip belt.  It’s the first time I’ve had issues with a pack slipping. I’m thinking it has to do with the slipppery xpac material on the back, but I’m not totally sure. I like the pack a lot but it’s annoying enough that I’m ready to unload it unless I can figure out a good solution.

Hmm…I don’t recall getting any other complaints on this topic and quite a few packs use XPac against the back. Other fabrics like hybrid DCF seems slicker, so I suspect there’s more to it than just the material. One possibility is that the hipbelt buckle does have a fair amount of resistance so it can be higher effort to crank tighter. Do you feel like you are getting it tight?

We are working on a major update to the pack for 2022 that will have a reverse pull and dual pull hipbelt amongst other changes, so that will cup your hips better than the simpler original belt.

A Gregory Baltoro pack I owned, it used strips of silicone in the lumbar area to reduce belt slippage with heavy loads. Might be possible to do something similar either by liquid or some sort of adhesive patch. It doesn’t take much to reduce slipping, but care I think must be taken to not make it too pronounced as it might be uncomfortable against bare skin, if that is ever a concern. An adhesive patch with silicone bits on the face might be a great way to try the concept while being reversible.
