Hi folks,
This is sort of a strange inquiry so bear with me. I will most likely be relocating to one of the areas mentioned in the post title in summer 2019 and I have been contemplating a career switch into an industry better aligned with my values and interests. I am 31 years old with most of my experience being in the technology-adjacent world of audio-visual event production, installation, and support of enterprise AV systems. My current role is very niche and I will have a hard time finding another job like this one, but my stress/burnout level is forcing to me consider other options.
Anyway, I was wondering what it’s like to work for a cottage industry outdoors brand like Tarptent, or even a larger brand like Sierra Design, and also if any of them have offices located in the areas I mentioned in the post title. I understand that retail is retail no matter where you go, but the level of engagement that I’ve seen from these companies in the communities of users/customers is inspiring and I’d love to be part of that in some capacity.
