Please correct me if I am wrong, I’m looking to buy an outdry jacket, was looking at shakedry but doesn’t seem durable enough.  Here’s a list, feel free to point out whatever I got wrong:

Ex Blitz 13oz
Ex Caldorado 6.2oz
Ex Diamond 15oz
Ex Eco 17oz
Ex Eco Casual 16oz
Ex Eco Rain 16oz
Ex Echo II 16.6oz
Ex Echo II Tech 19oz
Ex Featherweight 7oz
Ex Gold Reversible 13oz
Ex Lightweight 10oz
Ex Platinum 15oz pit zips
Ex Reign 17oz pit zips
Ex Reversible 20oz
Ex Reversible II 130z
Ex Tech Gold tech 12.1oz pit zips
Hybrid 13oz

I am confused though because I’ve seen Richard say some of the Outdry jackets are not breathable at all while others are.  Which are which?

I use an Ex Featherweight and its 228g or 8oz in a size Large. Somewhat breathable, probably more so than any other rain jacket Ive used, but its nothing like windshirt breathable. It is a great rain jacket though: never wets out, durable, looks good, tiny bit breathable.

Dan, I really liked my Featherweight, and the durability *feels* like it should have been better than the gore shakedry material. But it delaminated pretty badly quicker than expected. It had likely less 50 days trail use then probably another hundred or so as daily use with and without a small backpack (so, a lot less weight than hiking) around town and on my bike.

Once it started it fell apart very quickly in higher abrasion areas, on the shoulders and around where my hip belt would have been sitting.

I think the ex featherweight is no longer made, I believe. It was criticised for the cut – the hood sucked, but I liked the boxier cut for a bit more ventilation. It was certainly more breathable than at last any jacket that inevitably wets out.

I reallylove the technology, I hope things keep advancing in that space.
