A question about our psychological need for bright colours in a monotone white environment.

I will be needing to make a new wind-suit soon and I am wondering if using some really bright colours would help with what are often called the winter blues. I have some Mustard yellow and some Brick red fabric but I have very distinct memories of my bright red and yellow patchwork REI Everest wind-suit from the late 70s and how well it stood out in misty conditions.

My beloved wife is a self confessed fabric whore and has a huge collection of very bright fabrics in some wild patterns and I was thinking of raiding her stash even though her fabric is mainly printed Rayon or silk it could be treated and used with an appropriate liner fabric

Alternatively RSBTR have their associated print works and something in an appropriate material could be printed to order

Interested in peoples thoughts

The only color I try to avoid is black, because anything black vanishes in a tent with a black floor.  Otherwise, I’ll wear anything that fits, which for some of us ain’t much.

Funny you should say that because I just ordered a new duvet and the only colour an XXXL comes in is black
