Colorado Lost Creek Info

You picked a great time to go to Lost Creek Wilderness or anywhere in Colorado for that matter. Bugs and storms are beginning to taper off.  No canisters. Highs in the 70s F, lows in the 30s F on average.  So a 30 F bag should keep you warm. My two favorite places in Lost Creek are the area around Refrigerator Gulch on the McCurdy Park trail and the stretch above tree line on the Brookside-McCurdy trail, so consider going through these two areas when planning your trip.  Also, weekend are crowded.  The more of your trip you can do on weekdays, the better.

We’ll be there midweek, but we both prefer quieter areas- any other suggestions? Have you had any experience around Rawal Wilderness?

The Rawah Wilderness is great.  I can pretty much guarantee that you’ll see moose up there.  As well as great scenery.  Again, you’ll have more solitude if you go on weekdays. Here’s a link to a trip I did there several years ago.
