    Never imagined I would do this loop hike in the James Peak Wilderness at this time of year, but what a mild and dry autumn we have had. Up via the Arapahoe Lakes basin, south on the CDT, and down via the Iceberg Lakes basin…

    Yeah, porcupines are a real hazard, and while they’re not exactly common in Colorado, we have run into them enough that I always try to be prepared with a multitool that has needle nose pliers.

    Max does look like Max!  Your Max strikes me as more athletic though, my Max is a lumbering oaf.
