CO trail loop in the San Juans – Need suggestions

Hi all,

My buddy and I are looking to do a 50-70 mile, 6-day trek (end of August) that includes a section of the San Juans somewhere in the vicinity of Spring Creek Pass and Silverton. Ideally, we’d like a loop but recognize that might not be possible and are prepared to hitchhike. We are not wedded to the CO Trail but using it seems to make sense. Anyone have suggestions for a loop of that distance that includes fantastic scenery? If a loop isn’t possible, we would appreciate any suggestions for accessible trailheads easy for hitchhiking and just a lovely 50-70 mile hike in the San Juans in general. Thanks
