Hey, all. We’ve had a really muggy summer here in East Tennessee, and as I was packing for my Yosemite trip next week I noticed how sweaty/funky my backpack smelled. Any way to quickly de-funk? If it matters, it is an MLD Exodus. I’ve looked in a couple of stores for something like unscented fabreeze but can’t find anything. Thanks

I’ve had good luck with Gear Aid’s (fka McNett?) MiraZyme. Simply give it a hand-wash & soak in a bucket for a bit, rinse, and hang dry.
Wish I’d thought of this earlier. I’ll definitely pick up some MIraZyme for after the trip, but does anyone know something, “Household,” I can spray on for the time being?
I contacted the owner of Elemental Horizons and got a green light to remove the aluminum internal support on my Aquilo and wash with a sports wash on a gentle cycle in my front-load washer. Worked great and reduced my pack weight by several ounces of dirt and salt from sweat.
At the time I was more worried about offending someone on a plane than I was about cleanliness.
Take it to a self-serve carwash, lay it on the ground, blast the heck out of it.
I have tried Myrazine several times with no success. A vinegar solution was more effective. Oxyclean is mean on DWR, but was the most effective cleaner for mildew smells. Drying in sunlight is good too, but you have the UV exposure. A car detail shop may be able to put it in a box with an ozone machine c
Soak it in a tub with a 1 part white vinegar and 4 parts water for an hour, rinse thoroughly and hang up to dry. Works every time, been doing it with stanky shoes for years.
