Hi,

Being former military, I like chest rigs to carry small items. Any recommendations on one to attach to shoulder straps via D Ring and or Daisy Chain? The only ones I’ve seen so far are Z Packs multipack and Hill People Gear. Any other options before spending?

thanks, John

Maybe a ribz pack could work for you as well – sits lower but won’t flop around or impair vision if you need to look at your feet.

Probably not what you are looking for but Aarn packs are an interesting solution.

I have the Zpacks multipack and use it as a brain. It’s great also as a shoulder bag if I just want a few essentials to hike up a peak. It would be flexible to carry up front, on your shoulder, or on top of your backpack

John,

I guess it depends on what you mean by a few items. I put my compass and map in a eagle creek passport/cash neck pouch sometimes. I also have 2 HPG kit bags that I love. But it’s easy to overload any bag or pack.

I notice you didn’t say lightweight. Some people on the bushcraftusa forum are going with a condor T&T pouch combined with a chest harness made by primaloutdoors for alot less money. The condor does have D rings and is cheap(probably heavy too) that look like you could connect to shoulder straps with out the harness.

There’s another one too, if I find it I’ll post it. I always wanted to find someone to sew a similar Kit bag mesh back part and connect it to the zpacks multi-pack. It could be done real easy and you can get extra straps from zpacks. Then you’d have a light weight option.

I like the Condor version and bought one; it should work out for me I think. If not, it can go on my range bag. Thanks for the leads everyone. I’m still also considering the z packs multipack for when I’m trying to really lighten the load on longer trips.
