I’m looking to customize some gear but would rather not go the full MYOG route. For years I have been dreaming about upgrading my worn Jam2 for an MLD Prophet w/ built in hip belt pockets (I have one of the detachable MLD pockets on my Jam right now, and it just feels sloppy). However, when I emailed Ron this morning about getting a customization, he said they could only do the stock detachable ones. I think I may know a seamstress with a heavy duty sewing machine who could add some pockets, but I’d like to get some input on a few things first.
- Anyone have any recommendations for a great, ultralight pack manufacturer that can do built on pockets? Dyneema X only.
- If I do find someone local to do the modification, does anyone have recommendations for instructions to provide? I don’t know much about sewing, so the most I can really say is what I want to fit in it and what general shape I would like it to be. If anyone has done a similar mod to a pack, pictures would be awesome.
- Where do I get the materials for a small project like this? Maybe I could just ask MLD to purchase a bit of fabric and zipper?
