Have a 3 ounce bag of thru-hiker 900 down that has been stored in a closet for many years. I pulled out the bag and noticed the remnants of what looks like a few dead pantry bugs/beetles. Because of the bugs, and that the down has been in the original package (slightly compressed?) for many years… should I toss it? Was going to use it in a quilt I want to modify, but I will just buy new down if this stuff is junk now. What do ya think?

maybe put it on the freezer or heat it up to make sure all bugs are dead
maybe you can pick out any remnants of bugs
Aug 19, 2021 at 2:50 pm #3725274Jerry, bugs look to be long dead. Maybe a week in a freezer will doom any creepies, though I see no signs of living bugs. Thanks for the tip!
