If there was one single item of gear that changed the way I dressed for winter it was the original Patagonia Puffball pullover and the matching pants.

I own Nanopuffs and a DAS parka as well as a couple of UL and Expedition weight down paraks but there isn’t anything  out there that matches the old Puffballs combination of fit, coverage and insulation warmth with minimum overall weight.

I maintain my personal email campaign to have them brought back but to no avail.

Which discontinued item of clothing from any brand would you like to see come back and why?

Would the Nunatak Skaha APEX hoodie be a good replacement?  I am sure they would do custom work to make it just like the Puffball (pullover, no hood, napoleon pocket, etc)

Haglofs Ozo Pullover

There were several other items that didn’t have a replacement for some time but have had some new replacements

Golite Dimove Silkweight – No direct replacement but OR Echo is close

BPL Cocoon Pro 90 Balaclaca – Replacements from EE and MLD

OR GTX Rock Lobster Mitts – MLD eVent Rain Mitts

My Puffball had a hood Brad, the new Nanopuff bivvy looks just like my old puffball and it would be perfect for me if only it used 100GSM insulation

I still have my original Patagonia Pile and PEF Balaclava, never go anywhere in winter without it, they stopped making that decades ago for some reason but there has never been a better cold weather solution to staying alive in extreme cold weather conditions than that single item where I am concerned, it has saved my bacon on two occasions

Bring back the Pile&PEF balaclava too.

I should add Bib&Brace Goretex coveralls to my list as well
