I find myself on my first visit to Bozeman for a week, on a trip that I planned a while back – but I’m completely unprepared, because I bought a house last week in Santa Fe and I had to go and deal with that on short notice.
I’m not prepared for a long backpacking trip, but I’m looking for ideas for some long day-hikes (up to 25m) or one- or two-nighters?   I will be heading down through Yellowstone when I leave, so that’s on the itinerary already.
Well, the weather was bad the first few days so I didn’t do much other than museums & downtown, but on a small sample of getting out on the trails in the vicinity… Â my bear encounter rate so far is slightly over 1 per hour!
