Hi
I know there are a few posts/discussions on the first generation Black Diamond Ion (2014 model?) but I am interested in the new one, the 2016 model. Has anyone played with it or seen it in the flesh? I am particularly interested in the switch on this model and if Black Diamond have moved away from the swipe switch or not.
From the Black Diamond product page there is a hint they have … would like to confirm this but.

I updated this old thread with a quick review of the new  2016 BD Ion version. I think it should help. We have since used them for all our nights out/trips and we are very happy with them. So much better than the older version that I wouldn’t give a second look too after toying with one in a brick and mortar last year. One thing I would get in the habit of is to use the lock out mode when you stow it in your pack, but that’s of course a no brainer.
