Interesting. Â Not surprising that the terminology is used in serveral different industries to mean different things, i.e., not specifying the “feedstock” they are using.
They are diluting the pure fossil feedstock with renewable waste from timber pulp and paying ISCC to say how much its lowering their carbon footprint. They claim the timber pulp lowers their products carbon footprint by 5 tonnes of C02, they don’t say what their total footprint is.
As far as I can tell, they are not recycling anything.
Its exciting to see companies trying harder; but disappointing when you realize ‘made from renewable resource’ really means ‘made from slightly less non-renewables’.
Certainly every little bit helps, but I have a hard time believing they’d be doing any of this if they didn’t think the marketing benefits offset the effort.  Business was, is and always will be business.
The world is one big scam
So don’t anticipate this changing tensile strength or anything I presume.
Wow… you guys are a tough audience!
Ok, so it’s not exactly home-grown hemp, but from what I can find on the internet it looks like a pretty legit advance- a CF reduction of 90% over conventional methods isn’t bad.
Badmouthing Zpacks has become a popular pastime, and maybe for good reason in some cases, but I don’t get how all of a sudden Joe’s the big villain here.
have a terrific weekend!
I would never fault Zpacks for using a material that is said to be of a lower environmental footprint, if that is what they are doing. For DSM to say they are being environmentally responsible when the statement should be that they are just being “more” environmentally responsible with just one of their product lines, that is the scam/lie IMO for the sake of virtue signaling . If Zpacks switched to ONLY use this less environmentally impactful material, that would tell me something about how they really value the environment in comparison to their bottom line. This type of information really only tells me that there are processes that exist to lower environmental footprint, but the companies are unwilling to impact their bottom line in exchange for the environmental concerns.
I have no issue with Zpacks whatsoever.
I simply said the world is one big scam. It comes at you from every angle, everywhere and anywhere.
“The world is one big scam,”
Take heart, dirtbag, there are still honest people around.  And misinformation is not always deliberate, just misquided.
My comments were directed at DSM, not ZPacks. Â They are too small to make much of a difference. Â DSM on the other hand might be able to make a difference if they truly apply themselves. We shall see if they do.
