Hopefully this SF Chronicle article will link up. Sierra snow pack has been ‘meh’ so far this season. This will be a boost to northern and mid regions.

They’ve closed Yosemite National Park until Sunday or Monday. Big storm. It should put us around normal for the snowpack, which is good.

Herself.
You must be related :)
I was astounded by the amount of traffic over Donner Pass. It goes to show that in fact we do not learn from history, and repeat silly behaviors regardless. At least this time they know where the lunch buffet is.
I’m so conflicted. Of course the snow is good and needed for our state’s watershed health and who doesn’t love fresh POW to carve turns in, but after last year’s record snowfall I was looking forward to a normal or even early entry into the high Sierra.
Same. Big same.
Even with this last storm my understanding is that the sierra snowpack is only at ~normal levels. Nothing at all like last year. 10 feet of snow condenses down to three fairly quickly.
I check out the Tuolumne Winter Rangers page for weekly updates on snow levels in that area. As well as pictures. again, snow pack has been pretty mediocre until recently.

Note the new snow in March is in addition to the February totals. So yeah, it’s adding up. Still nothing like last year.
It’s shaping up to be about average, with some variation depending on the exact location.
