My dog got the best of my tent a while back and still need to fix it. Would tenacious tape work on this? can it be sewn? A mix of both?

If it was me I’d get an old scrap-crap tent and cut out a rectangle of mesh and sew it across this large rip. Hope you like to sew. OR you could pull the edges together and sew it shut—depending on zipper-fabric tension across the mesh.
Or if you have an extra sea to summit headnet around you could use it for the patch. Or just close it up with any lightweight 30 or 40 denier solid canopy fabric.

That is the tent, I have an assortment of DIY materials that have been sitting around for the day I eventually make some gear. :P
Just wanted confirm what people thought the best way to repair was. Seems like sandwiching it between two pieces of tenacious tape will work based on smaller holes. Probably hand sew the edges to keep it from ripping more and to pull it together some?
Hand sew the gash together. I did that years ago with floss after a mouse incident, and it is still holding. You don’t need the precision of a plastic surgeon. No-see’ums aren’t that smart or diligent. Just close it enough to make it tough on them. I lost the zipper on a tarptent and replaced it with just a few snaps. Good enough!
I can send you a piece to use as a patch. I can use the serger to roll the edge. All you’d have to do is sew it over the hole. Pm me if you are interested.
That looks like a good sized hole, so sewing might be best, but for smaller holes I’ve had success using seam grip and a small piece of mesh or nylon depending on what I was repairing. It won’t be pretty, but it works.
Everyone, thanks for the replies. Wanted to give an update. I decided to hand stitch the rip together. It worked a lot better than I was expecting. To keep the thread in place and strengthen the seam even more, I put seam sealer over it. Seems to be as strong as stock albeit little ugly, but it’ll do!

Looks functional!
