I’m moderately over-pronate and have found it difficult to find trail runners that give me the needed support. I’ll be doing the PCT next year and really need to zero in on shoes that won’t cause me discomfort or injury. I’ve been using the Asics Gel Kahanas for several years and, aside from the insufficient support, they fit me very well. Never get blisters or toe problems. I’ve tried Power Step inserts with them, but that makes them too cramped. I plan on doing multiple trips this Spring/Summer and I’d be grateful for any suggestions to try out.

I really like my Saucony Guide TR shoes. I have had several pairs now over the last 6-8 years. I use green Superfeet inserts with a bit of a medial post for my moderate overpronation. I trail run and backpack in them when my pack is under 25 pounds. My size 10.5s weigh 26.25 oz for the pair.

When I have a heavier pack (up to 35 pounds), my feet like a sturdier shoe. I have Saucony Xodus that I got on sale late last year (33.75 oz for the pair). I’ve only hiked in them, not yet backpacked. So far so good, but my experience with them in limited.

Brooks Adrenaline used to have a trail version. One of the best stabilized shoes I have ever worn.
