Recently diagnosed with Raynauds…no surprise, but the condition is really getting worse. Last year I was at least able to compensate with some chemical hand warmers but they are no longer keeping up and I have real problems with my thumbs outside the main body of mitts. Not just cold hands anymore but I think real damage is being done so I have to find a solution or simply stay out of the cold. Not real happy about the latter.

Anyone have experience with battery powered mitts. Lots of offerings out there but looking for a recommendation on a good pair wired particularly at the thumbs in addition to the main mitt body. Also I am only seeing rechargeable batteries. Something with replacables would be much better.

Thanks for any help you can offer. This condition is really killing my winter fun,    jimmyb

Oh no, I hope this doesn’t jeopardize your enjoyment of the outdoors.

I dint have any experience with this, so no recommendations, but I do see that you can buy separate batteries for heated mittens and gloves. Maybe being able to take spares with help.

There are many at this link. They also sell heated mittens. I did see some that take AA batteries, but looks like those are lower end ones that doesn’t extend the heat to the fingers, which sounds like a crucial feature for you.

Have you tried any of the RBH mitts (non battery powered)? They mention Reynauds on their site.

Jim C – thanks for the link, I will take a look

Doug – I will give them a call as suggested on their sight but I don’t have a lot a lot of hope for something that is not producing its own heat. In my case the blood restricting reaction to the cold is pretty bad. Once it occurs it takes a lot of outside heat input to restore blood flow. Unfortunately I can’t generate enough heat to keep even the best insulating mitts warm. I have a pair of BD mercury mitts  that others say their hands easily sweat in…for me their no better than a thin fleece glove.
