Moving out of the South next year and beginning to research shoulder season/winter bags. I currently use a 20 degree EE quilt down to the high teens semi comfortably and would like to invest in a bag for 0-15 degree temperatures. I have been looking at the sierra designs nitro 0 but haven’t found any good reviews. Is their a huge difference for performance in single digit temperatures between something made by sierra designs/marmot and the bags by WM and FF?

<p style=”text-align: left;”>In my opinion, as long as they’re EN tested and have similar features, there’s not a huge difference in the warmth of the bags you mention. Weight and price – yes, big difference.
I have a 15F Marmot bag that I paid $179 for on clearance that’s nice and warm at 10-15F.</p>
I’ll give it some more thought, since I already have a 20 degree quilt I think I should go with a 0 bag.
Laast year I bought an LL Bean -20 F. bag on  one-day double sale sale at the unbelievablely low price of $265. That’s tor a long, 750 fill goose down with DownTek DWR treatment. It’s sold out for this year but 650 fill 0 F. bags may still be available. Mix of European and Chinese down, “responsibly sourced”.
Even at its $19. retail price this bag is a bargain. It has THE best collar and drawstring design I’ve ever seen on a winter bag. Look for it next year.
