Winter backpacking is often the best type of adventure. No bugs, very few people, quite, stark beauty, etc. I love it.
Taking advantage of an early spring (2022) snow storm at Mount Saint Helens, I took a quick overnight backpacking trip. One my way up the mountain, it became apparent that the heavy snow storm with strong winds had created an avalanche warning for anything at/above the tree-line so I opted to seek out an off-trail path and destination along Swift Creek.
Making sure your gear is dialed in for what type of backpacking trip you are doing is key. Please check out my video of this trip at: https://youtu.be/7c9n1lpeStg
