I’m a side-sleeper and use a body pillow at home. I have searched high and low for a good camping alternative, and want to know if other people have had the same problem/know of any solutions?

I don’t use a full body pillow but I like having something between my needs when I sleep on my side – which is my usual position. I’ve made a “pillow” out of folded bubble wrap pieces taped together and it works pretty well. Really light too.
If you use a frameless pack, you could try turning it inside out and filling with any available soft items. Maybe put a few balloons in it.

I just bring two inflatable pillows- one for my head, one for between knees; I use the same pillow for both- S2S Aeros (large) 2.5 oz each and pretty darn comfortable
If I’ve been pounding out miles (most likely) and don’t have a pillow between my knees, it’s very bothersome!
As a side sleeper, I’m a big body pillow fan too. I often bring several inflatable pillows. One for my head, one for my knees, and because I also tend to roll my upper body when I sleep, I sometimes bring one that I place tightly against my torso to keep me from rolling. If it’s cooler and I have enough clothing I’ll dispense with the 3rd pillow. I’ve tried using my pack as a body pillow, but it’s not all that comfortable for me. I’ll be following this thread closely as this subject is near and dear to my heart and painful lower back.Â
BTW, my favorite knee pillow is an older model Big Sky DreamSleeper. Â
Glad I’m not the only one looking for this! I find that just a pillow between my knees still makes my shoulders stiff since there is nothing for my upper body.
My pack has too many straps etc for me to want to cozy up to, but that is an interesting idea! And I may try the bubble wrap. Definitely still waiting for a body pillow I can take into the backcountry.
Cheap pool air mattress rolled sideways with a pillowcase on each end to hold it together.

Agreed. I do this at home as well.
Pillowcase + Down jacket for my head. 100wt fleece jacket for the knees.
I’ve learned to side sleep with hips rotated slightly so the legs rest on the sleeping pad from knees to feet.
