Arms of Andes “glitch”

The alpaca baselayers I ordered as gifts are actually NOT in stock and will be sent after Christmas. The order page was just wrong, apparently.  They emailed to let me know about this “glitch” without offering any solution. I emailed back, so we will see what happens.

also, fyi, the 15% backpackinglight promo does not apply when you already get a discount for buying the three-packs.

And I was pulling for them. Perhaps try a different color. They were finally going to send mine and I got an invoice instead. They give fast refunds. Good luck.

My order of Nov 17 morphed into  a delayed shipping, then a product not available.  An alternative was offered with a further delay in shipping to the end of the year, or a full refund on Dec 7.  I opted for full refund, and AoA does not respond to recent emails, other than a blank “bot” Zendesk reply.  No phone number published.  Not sure if they are still in business.  This US startup is not ready for prime time.

Finally disputed charge of over $100 with credit card company.

Ordered two items back weeks ago and one of the item arrived. Contacted them TWO times what the status of the remaining item without NO reply to date. This did also did happen on the original order also but received a reply they were hoping to fufill the order soon because of the issues they were involved with. This company is having manfacturing issues and transportation issues that doesn’t make for good PR even if their quality & use factor stands out. Hoping some time today or tomorrow I will receive a reply to my last email to them as some BPL members have experienced the same issues. Just letting you all know to be patient if you were expecting Christmas fulfillment of your orders.

Everyone – I’d hesitate to order anything from Arms of Andes at the moment.  I ordered a full zip fleece, a folded beanie hat, and the slipper socks all in mid-November.  My status plus a brief review (so far):

– Full zip fleece – has not arrived yet.  After I contacted them in mid-December they informed me there was a delay in production, but it should ship mid-December.  I’ve tried contacting them in the last few days but have only received automatic and blank messages generated by their zendesk system.

– Slippers – arrived late, but material feels very soft and smooth, feel warm around the house, 1.4 oz for large – I’m looking forward to using these for cold-weather sleeping

– Folded Beanie Hat – awkwardly large – too much material at the top – and a little large around the head despite it being the right measurement per what they stated on their web page.  Unlike the smooth, soft feel of the socks this material feels a bit itchy.  At 2.4 oz it’s lighter than my good wool hat and probably at least as warm, so I’ll probably use it for some winter trips, but I don’t love it.

I think you may like it better after a couple washings. The itchiness goes away and it gets really soft. Shrink fit it. I sort of wish I hadn’t canceled my second order. Prices have gone up. I couldn’t wait. I hope you get it soon.

After less than 3 months, I’m getting a hole in my leggings. Not very durable. Not much hope.

Following up on my previous post:

– Mid-January I finally got ahold of their customer service – their website contact form wasn’t working well so I contacted them via Instagram and they got back to me within a day or two.  They apologized for the late shipment and miscommunication and got the full zip hoodie shipped ASAP.

– Full Zip Hoodie! – my wife loves it – nice material, seems to be well constructed – she’s commented several times about how it feels like a premium product.

– Slippers – super comfy for sleeping in and kept my feet warmish on a 15° night

– Hat – kept my ears and bald head warm that same night

I’m glad you got your order. They soften up after a couple washings. They get even nicer.
‘They offered me 50% my order or a new pair of leggings. I opted for a new pair. I do like them. I’ll give them another try. Use cold water wash and see if that helps.
