Approved bear can*** Sold out Adotec?

Chatted with Zpacks, supply chain issue with Adotec.  No reply from Adotec.

I’m not sure what you’re asking.  Whether you should carry your unapproved Garcia?  Whether there are trees for hanging in the Cabinets?

Looking for a Adotec Grizzly 14L, ruminating about other methods.  No reply from the maker, just the short chat with Zpacks was only other info.  Was hoping someone here was up on gear as I don’t follow the forum anymore.

15liter ursack major xl is 1.8oz heavier than the 14liter adotec. A little heavier but also a little bigger (skinnier and taller than the adotec).

But for only 2 nights you could get the smaller 10.65liter ursack major which is only 0.6oz heavier than the adotec 14l.

If you want an igbc certified bag those are the only two brands on the list.

I’ve been using that link.  Not thrilled with how hard it is to close the opening on my old Ursack(yellow threads).  I have the hard aluminum insert for it, which causes wear on the fabric.  The Adotec sounds much better.  Currently not able to source more material for their product.
Will do a hang instead if needed, friend pointed out wording on Kootenai NF site regarding food.

While it has other advantages, the Adotec is stiffer and harder to close than the Ursack. It also doesn’t have a formed bottom making it a bit more difficult to fill. A little bigger than my AllMighty, it’s a little trickier to fit into the pack. It gets better as it breaks in and it’s still my overall pick.

Maybe consider renting a Bearikade?

I have a Bearicade, Christmas present by my late mother over 12 years ago.  Even those are not approved.  Trying to sell at a local consignment store.  Useful where a hard side canister is required but no reg on which.

I also have an old Garcia Machine which I usually have to take as it is approved by many places.  I have an unused Critter Sack which I bought quite a few years ago.

I want to protect from rodents so have two ursack almighty’s.   My adopted blows them away.  The 20l almighty is really heavy, the next size down barely fits 5 days food unless you load up on high fat diet which causes problems on longer trips where carbs are needed after many days of exertion.

The adotec is lighter, bigger (I can fit 7 days in its 14l) and doesn’t gain water weight like the ursack.  The ursack feels like a steam engine and the adotec like it’s modern replacement

Garcia is still approved, it is just on a different list. Check the details on the IGBC site, and wording on the “active” list.
