This was my first time hiking Connecticut on the AT.  I decided to hike the entire state starting NOBO from the NY-CT in a weekend plus a bit of Massachusetts, about 65 miles in 3 days.

Weather: around 40s-70s F , mostly sunny except cold, wet and windy on the last day.

Elevation gain was not easy, but this wasn’t the Whites for sure.

Overall, I was really happy with my gear.  I took my Hexamid Tarp with me and it performed beautifully.  Bear in mind, I’m around 5’8″ tall.  My EE Enigma 30 was perfect for this trip.

I used my Sony A6400 with Sony 24mm f/1.8 lens to shoot this video and couldn’t have been happier with the results.

I carried it in a ZPacks multipack which is my new go-to for camera transport.  It’s a genius system that I need to make a video on asap.

My base weight for this trip was around 9.3 lbs including 2+ lbs of camera gear. My base weight is generally around 7-7.5 lbs these days not including camera gear, which varies depending on the trip.  Here’s my gear list

I highly recommend this section.  Northern CT and southern MA have some steep climbs reminiscent of the Whites in NH.  The views from Race Ledges were awesome!  (Albeit in cold, windy 40s F weather–watch the video to get a taste of it).

At this point, I’ve done bits of every state on the AT north of PA except for Maine.  I’m glad I’m finally getting around to hiking the AT after living in the NYC area for 4+ years.

Thanks – the video was really enjoyable and I appreciate that you were able to capture your trip in less than 7 minutes of video.  I spend so much time in front of my screen that longer videos drop into the “I’ll watch that later” bucket.

Kudos to you for capturing the rain and lousy weather on your trip as well.  Too many of the videos I’ve seen show only the glorious skies and you really caught the rawness of hiking in wind and rain.

Beautiful.  I haven’t done the southern part of CT yet, but I love that section around Sage’s Ravine.
