I used a Hexamid solo with a net floor for several years. I have no complaints about quality. I did dislike the design. Zpacks has jettisoned the net floor. Good! My only other complaint is that the front ‘beak’ panel doesn’t come down far enough to the ground to prevent winds from entering the tent. I’ll add, this was never an issue for me, so maybe I’m being picky. I understand that this design feature is to help with condensation issues. Fair enough.

Durston’s tents bring the fly skirts closer to the ground all around. So too, Tarptent. Kudos to both. I like having the option to close down the tent in certain conditions. It’s always easy enough to choose to open up the tent to more circulation.

bought the tent fairly early after it came out so I could have more room and keep my smaller dog with me without the wt gain.  The dog can get in and out of the doors if the screen is open by itself so that is a plus.  If you want to keep the fine mist out of the sides just pitch it lower.  I rarely use it as I like leanto’s but it has worked fine, even in some light  snow.  Also use a zpacks pack and love it.

My experience with Zpacks quality has been good.

Every tent has design compromises so there is a different “best” tent for each condition.   I have not had quality control issues with my Duplex, ArcBlast, or ArcHaul over the years.

Cudos to them (Durston, Tarptent and others) for changing the backpacking standards.  I do not want to revisit my 1970’s 8 lb. 2P tent!
