Another thing (not) to worry about

Been in a couple of those Colorado Rockies afternoon storms on the Colorado  Trail. Scary. you just hunker down and say a prayer.

Glad your okay! Lightening is my well earned nemesis. I’ve had so many close encounters, now I feel like I’ve used up all my nine lives!

My biggest come to Jesus moment was in the high Uintas about 15 years ago. We were on the East fork of Smiths fork behind Red Castle when a massive set of cells rolled through. Lightning frequency was approximately one for two seconds for over two hours. Strikes all over the place including very close to us. We panic set up our tent and I managed to fall asleep. I was awakened at about 5:30 a.m. with what I thought was a nice warm fire that my buddy had set up to help dry everything off. Then I noticed my buddy was snoring next to me. I left the tent and there was a 18-in lodgepole pine that had exploded and tipped away from us. The entire trunk was engulfed in flames. About 13 feet away from our tent. I’ve never seen that kind of storm violence and I hope I never do again!
