Looks like Qualcomm is going to partner with Garmin and Iridium to offer another cell to satellite service.
I may hold off my planned new cell phone purchase to see how this plays out.

It includes android phones
They’re just developing the hardware – antennae, electronics. Then phone manufacturers will have to incorporate into their phones. It will be a while before it becomes available.
Then I can ditch the InReach. That is so annoying because sometimes it takes an hour to send a message. Annoying user interface. It seems like cell phone satellite will kill this product.
But even when the product is killed, the BPL software will replace InReach with a link to Garmin : )
