I’ve made AllGood SPF 30 Mineral Tinted Sunscreen my go-to sunscreen for backcountry trips. Being zinc-based, a small amount covers a lot of skin, which is helpful for keeping carried weight low. The tinted formula also reduces the stark white cast that can occur with some mineral sunscreens, which I find useful when most of my skin is covered except for my face. In practice, this allows me to carry a small travel container sufficient for most 1–2 week trips, helping reduce overall pack weight.

The sunscreen spreads easily and feels light and moisturizing on the face, unlike some thicker zinc-based formulas that can feel sticky or heavy. The main limitation is cost—it is significantly more expensive than many other mineral sunscreens.

Overall, I consider this sunscreen a practical choice for backcountry trips where face coverage is the main concern. Its concentration, lightweight feel, and tint make it easy to use consistently, though hikers should weigh the higher price against their own budget and usage patterns.

Best for: Hikers or backpackers who hike with adequate sun protection from clothing, want lightweight facial coverage, and prefer a zinc-based sunscreen that applies smoothly and evenly.
Not best for: Hikers looking for full-body coverage on very exposed trips, or those seeking a lower-cost sunscreen option.
