I’ve searched and can’t find a forum or discussion, my apologies if frequently discussed…but anyone have leads on company(s) who will overfill a used sleeping bag?

did you wash it first?  sometimes that will fluff it up so it doesn’t need overfill anymore

Thank you for the suggestions. I have reached out to HermitsHut several times through several avenues and received no reply or answer. I can only assume they provide that service for WM bags…don’t really know.

The issue is more due to loss of down resulting from a problem that has been fixed and not to fallen down.

Might just look into buying some down from RipstopByTheRoll and doing it by hand if there are not other easy options?

I’ve never added down to anything, but I can’t imagine it takes a very large hole to cram it into there using a tube or funnel or something, then sew it up by hand. If this is for lost down, then I assume you only have to add down to a small section of the bag, like one baffle?

Thanks for the replies. I completely forgot about Rainy Pass and they did some repair work on my Sitka gear. Great leads, Thanks.

FYI Hermit Hut only sells WM with factory overfill. They do not modify in house.

I’ve considered adding the down but keep reading how messy and some trouble it can cause. May consider depending on costs quotes from companies.

Thanks again for the ideas!

“but keep reading how messy and some trouble it can cause”

I’ve stuffed down without too much trouble.

If you can find a good seam to rip out big enough to insert down it should be pretty easy.  If you have no machine, you could just do hand stitches to close it back up.

I got an extremely expensive quote from Rainy Pass a couple months ago to do what you’re asking. It was basically 2/3 the cost of a new quilt, so not worth it ($50 shipping!). I had gotten leads from this forum on a number of other companies, but none panned out. I even called several local-ish gear repair shops and none of them would do it. So I finally gave up. Let us know if you find someone!
