Adidas Terrex down puffy looks to be the perfect Ghost Whisperer killer?

What temps are you expecting? Is this strictly for at camp use before hitn’ the hay? It just depends on what you’re looking for.

The hooded MH GW (layered over a l/s nylon shirt & cap 4 hoody) wasn’t warm enough for me around camp just above freezing (water bottles froze overnight). By the numbers that Terrex looks good. Better than the Mont-bell Frost Smoke I’ve been eyeing.

I’ve gotta ask since Adidas is hardly a UL cottage supplier – how true are those weight numbers?  For example some of the down options from LL Bean have looked great to me in the past until I went and weighed one just to discover it was something like 40% over advertised weight…

That’s a great question and one of the reasons I was hesitant to consider the purchase.

After the drop already closed, apparently Adidas came back with this information.

I still consider it to be questionable pending further investigation. If it proves true however, it could be a good option…but not at retail price IMO.

Just out of curiosity I did some Google searching for this jacket.  I’m confused.

Zappos has one called the Adidas Outdoor Terrex Climaheat Techrock Hooded Jacket for $425.00

6pm.com has the adidas Outdoor Terrex Climaheat Agravic Down Hoodie, which looks to be about identical, for $240.39

Are these the same item or different?

And that is another good question. The mass drop wasn’t super clear on that either. :/

I got confirmation that the Massdrop jacket was the Adidas Outdoors Terrex Climaheat Agravic Down Hoodie – the same as the 6pm one.

The weights I received were based on men’s medium which was a sample weighed by the Massdrop contact.

The drop is back. $200 for the jacket. 10.8oz total with 4.2oz fill.

How does that stack up?

Tempting. I’m hesitant about the wispy fabrics though. I’m not particularly hard on my down jacket (mostly around camp), but wonder if it keeps the down in.

I’m hoping for a good sale on a MB Frost Smoke parka or a My Trail Co. (GoLite) Down Light Hooded Jacket. Both are 2 ounce more total weight (13 oz.) than the Terrex, but sport thicker fabrics and should go on sale for substantially less than MSRP.

Does Montbell only sell direct now? I think so, which means the “outlet” section on their website would be the only place to find things on sale.

Speaking of which, the Alpine Light parka is in the outlet now, for $143. Total weight is 13.3oz, with 4.3oz of 800fp down. Its 20d fabric puts in between the 30d Frost Smoke and 7d Ghost Whisper/Terrex. Might be worth checking out.
