Anyone know if you can add a sternum strap to the HMG stuff pack? Easily add that is.

Define “easy”. It would take me 5 minutes, but I have all the stuff necessary to do it.

I’d use 1/2-inch poly or nylon webbing (you’ll need 12-15″ of it, depending on how the pack fits you), and a matching-sized quick-release buckle with at least one adjustable end.  Cut the webbing into 2 pieces (one 3-4″ long, the other will be the remainder of the webbing).  Burn all the cut ends of the webbing.  Thread the webbing through the non-adjustable side of the buckle, and sew it onto one of the straps at the exact chest height that you want.  Sew the other strap at the exact same chest height as the one with the buckle.  Thread the long webbing through the adjustable side of the buckle.  Wear. Enjoy.

If that’s too hard, you could always just tie a piece of cordage (like a shoelace) around each shoulder strap, then tie them together like you’d tie your shoe. The shoulder straps will bend and not be so comfortable, but it only takes 5 seconds and requires nothing you wouldn’t already own!

Thanks Valerie.

Don’t know why I can build a house from the ground up but don’t have a clue about sewing. Or cars. Or women for that matter.
