This was so easy that my post is more an encouragement than a “how I did it.”
First, I love my micro grid hoodie, so much that I have two. The medium is a perfect fit for a base layer and the large fits nicely over a couple of shirts and a down vest. But I have always wished for a zipper, especially in the large. Finally this weekend I did something about it. Following the guide on lifehacker I spent $3.42 on materials and less than an hour of my time to achieve success. I used a 14″ zipper, ran one extra line of stitching on each side along the edge of the zipper tape to hold it down and for the draw cord just stitched it in place and then cut it with the front of the jacket.

So, if you have one of these hoodies and were thinking of throwing in a zipper, go for it, it’s a snap.
