Hey all,

Some of you may have seen my last little project “The John Muir Trail (According To Chris)“.  I just wanted to share that in partnership with BPL, I’ll be working on an entire film series with original soundtracks written by yours truly.   The next release called “Snowshoeing Yosemite Point (According To Chris)” is scheduled for release March 1st.

The series is just how it sounds.  Backpacking adventures “According To Chris”.   Nothing prescriptive or instructional or enlightening.  Just me being “Chris” on the trail, which at times includes technical stuff about gear, terrain, etc.   I think these will be useful resources for anyone looking for a preview of the trail.

I’ll be releasing several more short films this year.  My big project in Sept is to start shooting for a feature length film on the High Sierra Trail.  Wow…”film” and “shooting” makes me sound like I know what I’m doing! ;)

I’m still learning.  Thanks to some kind advice from The Muir Project, Greg Aiello, and even Ryan Jordan, I’ll be making drastic upgrades to my camera gear over the next 6 months.  You can expect the quality of the releases to improve over time.  And yes….this is a VERY serious challenge as far as maintaining UL standards!  I’ll need to go SUL just to make room for the new gear!!

Anywho, I hope you enjoy the series.  If there’s any trip in particular you’d like me to film, I’m all ears!

Really glad to hear about your new projects, Chris.  I really enjoyed your movie on the JMT, and now I’m looking forward to your High Sierra Trail movie!

Great videos. Good camera work, well narrated and edited. I’m a fan and I think your series will inspire many to get out and hike.

Thanks guys!  Glad you’ve liked my stuff so far!  I’m upgrading from my little rx100 to a sony A7rii soon.  I expect the following to film to be MUCH higher quality.  I’m also learning a lot of lessons along the way.  (Keep the camera still!  Use a mic windscreen, avoid backlit filming, etc).

If there’s anything you’d like to see more of let me know.   I’ve been getting a lot of camera gear questions so I’m thinking of making a quick video and/or article on the UL camera gear I’ve used.  I’m no camera expert by any means, but I could certainly share what I’ve used.
