Thats why in the US I wear eye protection (secured) like we did in the military.  Not to the point of being “ballistic” protection (more like recreational sunglasses with UV protection to boot), but I use pretty big lens for more coverage.
Trail maintenance is going falling behind as more gets shifted to fire fighting.  I’ve had a few close calls with branches and stems hurtling toward my eyes in the last few years on even “major” trails.
