A "reasonable" service life for Gore Windstopper fabric

My gloves are no longer windproof, in fact far from wind resistant even . They are about 20 YO [ I bought 3 pairs – this is the last pair without holes in them] but I only use them in the snow and I do use shells over them when it is colder.

So I would guess I have been using this pair off and on for the last 8 years or so. I’, wondering how much the loss of the windproof aspects of the gloves contributed to my frost nip last month too.

Gore say that the windproofing lasts for the lifetime of the product so I am sending them back but am I unreasonable to expect them to be windproof after 8 years use?

8 years seems like a pretty stellar run for gloves.  For lightweight/liner gloves I’m happy if I get a full season before they are holey as hell.

I swap gloves around a lot depending on conditions. The question wasn’t so much about wearing holes in the gloves but on the real world lifespan of Gore Windstopper.

I must say tho that I do appear to be easy on gloves/mittens when compared to my walking and skiing mates.
