Has anybody carried fruitcake while backpacking?  How long will it last in the summer?

We have carried fruit cake and Xmas pudding. Keep it wrapped up so it does not dry out.
We found it did not last very long, but that was because we ate it.

Cheers

Fruit cake has been a backpacking breakfast/snack/dessert staple of mine for years.  My wife’s traditional version is soaked in rum.  What more can I say?  OK.  There’s nothing quite like good hunk of dark, dense, rum soaked fruitcake with that first strong black morning coffee  . . . I’m getting all excited just thinking about it.

Like fruit cake holiday gifts, this thread keeps coming back. Now I want some too! But I don’t deserve it until I take off a few rolls.

Karen – Everyone deserves fruit cake!

I realize that everyone has their own personal preferences, but I will say it again…

Best.
Fruit Cake.

Somebody needs to do a spreadsheet ranking fruitcakes in terms of caloric density.

White fruitcake is the best. I have made it in muffin version, and yes, carried it hiking.
