I highly recommend “ALLEN & MIKE’S REALLY COOL BACKCOUNTRY SKI BOOK”.
It is about 30% backcountry skiing and 70% backcountry camping and travel. Mike Clelland’s illustrations contain at least half of the information the book.
Yeah it is a thin paperback but the best book on the topic I’ve ever seen. The US military should designate it as a field manual!
