A Frame like tarp with doors

Here’s a A Frame like tarp that has doors for when its colder.  The doors can zip down, but when its nice out they can roll up and the tarp can open up wider like a traditional A-Frame.  This one has a very slight cat cut on the ridge line.

Thanks for all those who helped me make this here on this forum.  It’s my first MYOG project and I’m already thinking of another design. Of course, I don’t show any close ups cuz the sewing is aweful! Hehe.

That looks great, good job! How does the pole connect to the tarp at the front?

There’s a d ring attached that fits my pole but it’s a bit large so the pole extends  a bit outside.  Once I switch to an eyelet or what ever it’s called the pole won’t extend so much and I can put a flap on top of the vent that the pole is now sticking out of.

Great shelter!

I have been looking to build one very similar.  I like the 2 pole designs for strength.  Another similar design would be the Borah gear Boragami.

Good work!

That’s awesome. I just made a flat tarp and really wanted to do a zipped vestibule like this but couldn’t figure out how to make it where it would hold the pole but still zip all the way open. I gave up but yours looks great!

Looks great! What material did you use? How much does it weigh? Is the foot end open?

Very slick design overall, and a nice color to boot!  :)

Looks like Green Tea 1.1 Silpoly to me. Great material if so.

I have been away planning my hike but it’s sil poly 1.1 Green Tea.  I don’t have an accurate scale but my bathroom scale says its around .75 pounds.  The back is covered like the front and zipped.  It can open up all the way with a separating zipper.  However this leaves a small opening at the peak and it will require an extra flap to make it fully rain proof.  With a smaller eyelet the pole won’t extend so far and the flap can be small.  However, I don’t care too much about the rain cuz I just sleep away from the doors, so I might leave the flaps off.  Going to test it a bit then see if that pole peak interface works.
