Okay, so I've got an ultralight pack and am happy with it. What it lacks is pouches for the front of the harness that can hold Gu, compass, snacks, camera, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. Does anyone know of a source for ultralight (Dyneema or comparable) pouches for packs?

I have no idea what Dyneema is, so color me stupid or uniformed I guess. However, I did add a Granite gear shoulder strap pocket to my vapor trail and it is convenient to use and a welcome addition to that pack.

Have you considered adding two pouches to your hip belt? Granite Gear makes those too. However, the lightest ones are made of silnylon. Check out Zpacks.com — they have those pouches as option items which I believe you can order separately.

I use a Dana Designs "Wet Rib" (has a bike bottle holder on the end of the main pouch).

I'd look hard at that & then design your Dyneema fabric "Rib" to match, including the attatching straps, buckles and sliders. I have used my Wet Rib since 1997 and love its usefulness.

AND…if you need side pockets REI make great heavy duty rip-stop 2 compartment side pockets. They are sold in pairs for about $25 if my memory is correct. You can trim off any webbing you don't need & heat seal the ends W/ an old hot knife.

I agree on the Granite Gear strap pouch. I have an older Outdoor Research model that performs the same function.

You have to watch the pouch concept– they add up in a hurry. Three Granite gear pouches add up to four ounces and they make some of the lightest, not to mention burning up a $50 bill. If you find your pack running out of room, it's time to look at your gear or your pack.
