I, like many members here, pack separate sleeping clothes to help keep my sleeping bag clean. In my case I use a set of Terramar silk baselayers, and while they work very well as pajamas it can be a pain to undress and change into them at night, and then to get re-dressed every morning. Especially when it’s cold out.

I’m aware of companies like Cocoon that sell sleep sheets, but I’m curious if anyone at BPL has seen or used a one-piece jumpsuit/coverall type of garment instead, just slipping it on over your dirty clothes before going to bed. I would think a simple jumpsuit sewn out of Argon or M-90 would be very light yet still keep the day’s dirt/oils/sweat away from the inside of your sleeping bag – without having to undress.

Does such a thing exist?

You know Doug, a Tyvek suit might work, they're certainly light enough. Another interesting idea from Kelly G (KellyDT) that was posted in a thread from about 11 months ago was…

"I bought a silk liner but didn't like twisting around in it – so I cut out and hand-sewed pajamas from it. Silk pajamas, top and bottom, that now weigh 3 oz total. Keeps the bag clean, as originally intended"

The silk might be more breathable, but she doesn't have PM set up so I don't have any more info than that. I'm guessing it was a fairly simple MYOG project.

Note that, if you're an heavy sweater while moving (I am) or if the weather is particularly damp, your hiking clothes are going to be damp when you go to bed. This makes you colder during the night.

The Tyvek coveralls might be a good solution if you don't want to carry separate sleep clothes; they'll slow down evaporation of sweat/moisture from your hiking clothes during the night.

Hope it helps!
