Mont-bell Super Stretch Burrow Bag Loft?

10 months old, 16 nights' use.

Richard, I can go almost any day; the Shibuya MB is 15min from my work.
They have most the bags hanging on a rack; I could measure approximate double thickness loft and report back if there is interest.
I own 5 synthetic bags from Snugpak I loan out to my hiking club; but actually if I could do it again I would buy Montbell bags because of their stretch capability. And I personally use my 3 MBs year round, but unfortunately thats only a few nights each season :(

Brett – At minimum, I still need the loft for the #2 SS in Exceloft. I called the Mont-bell Colorado store and Egan said it was about 7.75″ double layer loft. My theoretical calculations show that it should be 6.60″ to provide equivalent warmth to the 800 down version at 5.0 “. I own the #2 800 fill down SS version thanks to your strong recommendation.

Ideally you would measure and report for each of the equivalent model’s, on display: the SS bag model’s double layer loft (800 fill, 650 fill, and Exceloft). I think the data you provide will most conclusively resolve the minor difference of opinion that Acye and I had relative to whether, for the same warmth, high quality down (like 800 fill power) or high quality synthetics (like Exceloft, Primaloft One, or Climashield XP) requires more loft to achieve the same insulation value. I am normally in strong agreement with Ayce’s posts. I am really puzzled as to why we disagree on this one point.

90% chance I can go Tuesday night and get that data. I'll measure in two places to be more accurate but still my sample size will equal only 1 bag.

I suggest using 2 wooden rulers; fluff the bag; use the stomach area to measure; lay one ruler on top so that it is level; and then use the other ruler to measure the double layer loft.
