Can anyone point me to some lightweight sleep sheets that can be zipped or buttoned up as a sleeping bag liner sack, but can also be laid out open and flat?

Sounds like a great DIY project. Get one of those Vietnamese silk liners from eBay, cut off the hood (and hem the edge). Then carefully seam rip one side and the bottom; sew in a lightweight zipper. Enjoy. :^)
oops double post
Great question. I expect Valerie's right, that it would have to be a DIY job.
Hope this isn't too much of a tangent – are you wanting to be able to have it open with a quilt? I've been wondering if anybody has made a liner that they use out flat with a quilt – if so, how do you attach it to the quilt? (I'm thinking of when with quilt is clipped down to the pad, e.g Enlightened Equipment style.
Yes for a quilt. Don't want to be constrained in a mummy bag, so it defeats the purpose getting a mummy-shaped sleeping bag liner :)
I have my eye on the EE Revelation Pro too…

Not answering your question…
I used to use a rectangular silk liner — to help keep my bag cleaner by keeping body oils and sweat away. But I found I didn’t much like being zipped inside a liner that’s zipped inside a bag — the set up made getting out and back in at night to answer the call of Nature rather annoying.
I also found that I didn’t much like sleeping nekkid — just didn’t care for the sweaty feel that skin-on-skin contact sometimes caused. So I started wearing silk long johns — plus a pair of light weight liner socks — and quickly realized the heavier silk liner was actually redundant. I was glad to rid myself of the liner. YMMV, of course, but food for thought.
Ben,
I appreciate the idea. I have considered that actually, but I guess I actually *need* to BYO liner for the few nights I'll stay in refuges or gites d'etape.
And I also want to sleep in fresh clothes at night–and warm ones, because I FREEZE(!) but this is all adding up to be quite the weight penalty: sleeping bag liner PLUS fresh and warm (i.e., many ounces of) sleeping clothes :(
I haven't sorted it out yet…maybe I just have to take the hit…
