I've been gearing up in earnest for the first time recently and I'm beginning to consider my sleep sytem and sleeping bag. I believe I need to stay with synthetic bags because I've got a down allergy.
Anyway, I currently have a Mountain Hardwear Lamina 35. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I can supplement this bag with enough clothes to camp confortably this winter in the Adirondacks. This being the case I've been keeping my eye out for a good synthetic bag rated at about 20*.
Today I found the Lafuma Extreme 1500 +20 for about $80…but it weighs in at 3 lb. 5 oz. Is that pretty heavy for a synthetic bag? I know that the Mountain Hardwear Ultralamina 15 weighs a fair bit less, but it also costs a lot more. I'm trying to sort out what I'll need for a winter bag and whether or not I should buy the Lafuma at that price despite the weight. I'm just not that familiar with the range of wieghts in winter bags…
Any suggestions?
I wish I could just go with a down bag…
