Stuff sack for sleeping bag

The Sea To Summit XS compression sack should fit. It's what I use for my WM Summerlite, which is a comparable down bag, but at 2.4 ounces, it's not as light as a comparably sized silnylon or spinnaker stuffsack.

Sorry Roger but I did say that !!!!
The reason is that I'm not into bushwacking but more what Australian know a backpacking, that is, going on extended trips overseas with a backpack and travelling independently. But I'm keen on getting my pack weight down. So, in 1993 I used a 60L pack and in 2005 I used a 40L pack. Next trip I have a 30L pack which means the volume of the contents is critical (I may not even get away with it but will try to). So a compression sack with it's straps and clips at a few grams more could easily compress the sleeping bag down to half which is huge. I may even use one for clothing that isn't worn that often such as some base layer stuff. I sort of think that volume is nearly as important as weight sometimes, less volume = smaller pack = less weight !

I have found that using stuff sacks that are too small reduce the effective use of pack space. Tight, rounded edges leave a lot of unused, dead air space. Your soft gear will utilize this space better when used in a larger stuff sack or no stuff sack at all. Your bag will still compress down to it's smallest size as you pack everything else into your pack. Just something to consider.
