Roger, that is about twenty times the volume that I'm looking for.

Besides, if this were a medicinal cream or ointment, putting it in a tea bag envelope might not be sterile.

It's hard to imagine difficulty in getting a creamy substance out of a sealed straw. Try using the large bubble tea straws. I carry a single use shot of neosporin in my kit and have had no trouble squeezing it out.

"large bubble tea straws"

At the last time that I went down this rabbit hole, something didn't work. First, the large diameter straws did not seem to be much larger than the standard ones. Second, there must have been something odd with the plastic. It didn't melt right. I could not melt and crimp the ends worth a damn. Also, of course, the straw is not easily resealable. Some of these ideas are great for a one-shot cream like Neosporin, but they would be even better if they could be recapped after half is used.

"Instead of sealing by way of melting and crimping, how about cutting with scissors, pinch the ends flat with your fingers, then use scotch tape for a flat closure."

I first tried this about twenty years ago. The tape does not stay stuck on a warm day.

Bob,
There is a simple way to reseal a fire type straw. You fold the end over and slip on a sleeve you've made with a shorter cut straw. This video is long and I had a hard time finding it again, but about 15 minutes in he illustrates how to do that.(just fast forward)

He's got one extra fold in there before the sleeve/cap.

Wait a second! What am I going to do with these hundreds of empty gelatin capsules that I've been stockpiling?

If I apply a solution to gelatin capsules, then I'll have nothing but a bunch of goo.

Bob,

Here's a variation on the straw theme.

These disposable 1 ml/cc syringes weigh 2.3 grams each. Hole size at the tip is just large enough to insert the wire from a standard sized paper clip. Looks like the hole could be enlarged easily.

They might work in a couple of ways, depending on the viscosity of the cream and the size of the dosage.

(1)One or more doses could be put in the syringe at home and a measured dose could be applied in the field. The syringe has 1/10 cc/ml markings.

(2) Cream could be carried in another container and a measured dose could be drawn from the container and applied in the field.

We have used the syringes to administer medicine to cats. I haven't used them to administer cream in the field so this is a desktop/unproven suggestion at this point.

Apperantly he is not interested in those because Mike W had a link to some plastic ones on the second page

Uhhh, 3,000,000 piece minimum order?

Let me think about that. NO.

Link,

Yes those look like the same thing and they can be bought in small quantities. Good find.

Pretty sure you're overthinking this. Stay simple.

Start with heat sealable metallized film. Cut to size. Seal 3 sides. Fill. Seal.

Customizable, every time.

"Mike W's link is 3 for 99 cents or ETSY has 25 for $4.50"

These seem exactly like what he was asking for. I can't figure out what the problem is with them and he is not saying…

Link previously pointed out the capsule smiley faces as a plus. But maybe they aren't universally seen as a plus?

Are the capsule logos smiling at us (my view) or are they simply painted, sadistic grins? Only the capsules know.

Some people might not want those smiley faces with them in the pack, in the tent, in the dark, in their imagination.
