I sent you a PM. I'm probably not the kind of person you're looking for. I'm too far away (Midland) so I couldn't make the dinner or volunteer for a weekend activity etc. But let me know if you ever want to do the Guadalupes or Big Bend. Maybe I could help you with a vehicle shuttle or something like that.

Wasn't able to make it to the fundraiser, but I am very pleased to learn about this organization. Our son is still a bit young for the family backpacking trips (even though he is a pretty seasoned camper and backpacker at the age of 5), but we will probably be signing him up for one of the summer daycamp sessions. Looks like great stuff.

I'm sure he will enjoy the summer camp and I look forward to having you folks backpacking with us when he is ready.

Hope it’s a great event!  I might consider coming, but I’ll be out on the Ouachita Trail.  Our son did a week of camp this past summer, and really enjoyed it.  But we’re really looking forward to the family trips when he gets a little older.  The Pecos Wilderness Trip looks awesome!

Have a great time on the Ouachita!  We hiked most of the Ozark Highlands Trail a couple of years ago.  Beautiful country!

Thanks, Mina.  I’ve never backpacked that area, so I’m pretty excited.  I looked into the Ozark Highlands Trail, but for no particular reason decided to try the Ouachita this time.  I normally head west for my outings, so I’m looking forward to exploring a new area.

Arkansas is pretty different from out west.  Lots of fun for backpackers.  The Backpacking Arkansas web forum has a lot of really nice folks on it.  Maybe you’ve found it already.  (They even have an annual gathering in late October.)  http://www.backpackingarkansas.com

Thanks, I had joined that group a few years ago, but haven’t checked in there in quite a while.  I just finished up the 51 or so miles from Talimena State Park to Queen Wilhelmina State Park.  Not going to break me of my love for New Mexico, but a very beautiful area, nice to have somewhere to go in the winter.  And only an eight hour or so drive, which is nice.
