Hey all,
Thinking of doing a last minute trip this weekend.
Day 1: up snow creek falls to north dome. Camp up there…good spots?
Day 2: north dome to top of Yosemite falls. camp there.
Day 3: Yosemite falls trail back to valley floor.

I think total mileage is <20 miles…so not bad. Need to double check that…

I'm very familiar with Yosemite falls, but have never been up snow creek.
Looks steep.
How's water up there? I'm reading it can be dry…..
Think there's enough snow patches around to melt?

I went up the Snow Creek Switchback Trail once on the first day of a ski trip. The trail itself was steep and straightforward until we reached the gradual rim, and that was where we hit the first real snow of a south-facing slope. From there up to the Snow Creek Cabin, the ground was covered and skiable on that day. Six days later when we were coming back down, the ground was bare.

Counting on patches of snow is totally suspect.

No water on Snow Creek Trail itself until you get to the rim as of today. Then there's plenty of water in Snow Creek itself once you get to the trail junction / footbridge. Patchy snow and ice starting at the bridge at around 6800'. You'll probably want snowshoes to get over Indian Ridge or be prepared to suffer through some postholing.

There are plenty of places to camp on top of North Dome – it's open granite and sand.

Awesome. Thanks guys!
Looks like it might snow tues…so hopefully someone here will have updates later in the week.

Looks like I'll be hauling my snowshoes…thinking of braving my new Vargos Ti baby crampons…

Any areas up there that might warrant an ice axe or can I leave that behind?
