Hi All

So, I am getting pulled along with my girlfriend to a vacation rental house in Eastport Michigan, right near Torch Lake. We are going in the middle of July.

From what I could find online (which wasn't much), it seems like there isn't a ton to do there. Wondering if anyone has tips or suggestions for some good outdoors stuff to do in that area. Good hiking? kayaking? Any tips or suggestions would be awesome!

P.S. I know this isn't really a backpacking thing….but everyone on here is so knowledgeable and has a common love for the outdoors, you're all a great resource!

Thanks in advance!

Try Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Manitou Islands.
Leland Peninsula Area….great Small Mouth Bass fishing at the end where the State Park is.

I believe these areas will keep you "busy" without a lot of traveling.

Canoeing and kayaking on the Boardman, Platte, Betsie or Manistee rivers.
Jordan River Pathway hiking.
Sailing on tallships in Traverse Bay area
Trout fishing from small brooks to Lake Michigan charters.
Many wineries and micro brews, lots of good eating.
Miles of great sandy beaches to wander, hunt for Petoskey stones.

Note-Traverse City is a traffic mess in summer, several highways funnel together.

I had forgotten about Manitou (Thanks Rog)

You could also visit Pictured Rocks.
